Fresh-baked Bread: The Great Seductor

Fresh-baked Bread: The Great Seductor

When we entered Slovenia and paid a visit to our friends Darja & Sašo in the little village of Oplotnica, we originally intended to stay for a day. Some cajoling and a barrel of homemade meals later, we found ourselves staying in Slovenia for three days. It was time very well spent!

With eternal thanks to our friends, the Polo received numerous improvements! We received a set of 5 new spare tires fitted with rims, replaced 2 of the tires on the car with ones that actually had treads, the radio antenna now receives stations (meaning we can play music through it with our iPads now!), the clock under the speedo finally shows the correct time and not a time 14 hours ahead, and the starter was replaced so it no longer makes a horrifying grinding noise when it turns on!!

We also got to indulge by having our laundry done, eating a humongous pile of food, doing some light sightseeing around Oplotnica and Maribor, received our Azerbaijan e-Visas, and just relaxed. We won’t have many opportunities to do this later on during the Rally, so we enjoyed it while it lasted! How could anyone not enjoy these baked goods:

Particularly when eaten with fresh fruits in a garden with the weather barely topping 22C.

It was hard to leave, but we knew we have to keep going to Mongolia! Next stop: Romania.
