Mitra stopped by the Cumberland Arms in Hammersmith, London today for the Route Beers event hosted by the Adventurists! From what she tells me, she left quite an impression on the other teams that were present for the event (she always does).
She also managed to meet up with Julia from The Visa Machine to discuss our options regarding visas for the both of us through Central Asia. Since Mom and I both hold multiple citizenships, it appears as though our visa costs maaaaay be lower than we had originally thought, which is great news! It was also great to meet up with the other teams to learn about their planned routes, their cars, and the overall experience has left her much more confident about our chances for the Rally. 🙂
Next up, we’ll be going over the individual countries we will likely pass through during the Rally to determine our precise visa needs, and next week I (Sheila) will be starting a beginner-level Russian language course. Between the two of us, there will be very few languages we won’t comprehend throughout our trip!
